First Steps

Starting something new can feel like a big step. Below is a simple overview of what you can expect when you begin services with The Light House.

1

Contact Us

The simplest way to get started is to complete the Contact Us form. By completing this form you are simply requesting more information—you are not making any commitment.

Questions before you submit the form? Call or email.

2

First Phone Call

Our office manager will review your contact form and determine which team member will contact you based on your goals and expressed interests.

The goal of this call is to:

  • Answer your questions

  • Determine next steps

  • Review fees and insurance if you decide to set up an appointment

3

First Appointment

The primary purpose of your first visit is to share your goals for treatment and to determine if your therapist is a good match.

When you first arrive, your therapist will:

  • Help you complete any applicable insurance forms

  • Walk you through an intake questionnaire

Once you have completed your intake session, you will have an opportunity to reflect on how well you feel you match with your clinician’s approach and style.  If you find you would like to meet with another clinician for any reason, you are encouraged to share this with us and we will work with you to find a better match.  It’s important for you to feel comfortable!

4

Moving Forward

During your first few visits, you will work with your therapist to determine a treatment plan. Your therapist will share the chosen modalities and approach, and you will work together to determine measurable goals.

This plan will:

  • Keep you informed about your treatment

  • Help you and your therapist track progress together

You are always encouraged to speak with your therapist about your treatment plan and any questions that you may have.

First Visit Tips

A white sign with blue and yellow text advertising The Light House in Manchester, positioned in front of a gray house with bay windows and some bushes in the yard.
  • The Light House is conveniently located at 97 Main Street in Manchester, CT, close to exit 63 on I-84. You will recognize The Light House by the sunny logo on our sign. We are directly across the street from Woodland Street and our parking lot and entrance are located off of Grove Street.

  • To access our parking lot, turn off of Main Street onto Grove Street and make an immediate left into our marked parking lot. Park in any available space. Then, look for our sunny, welcoming, yellow entrance door!

  • As you enter the building through the yellow door, follow the sign to our welcome area. Take a seat, help yourself to a cup of coffee or a bottle of water, and wait for your therapist. Your therapist will come to meet you at the time of your appointment.

  • Please bring your license or identification as well as your insurance card, if applicable. Clients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian for the first visit.

    • Masks are not required in The Light House. You are welcome to wear a mask if you prefer. If you prefer that your therapist wear a mask, please share that during your initial phone call.

    • Our parking lot and entrance are lit and monitored by in-house security cameras.

    • A ramp is available from the parking lot to the entrance and welcome area. However, several of our therapy rooms and offices are located on the 2nd floor. If stairs are a concern, please share that during your phone call so that we can schedule your sessions in the most accessible location for you.

  • You will discuss fees during your initial phone call. We accept cash, check, and payment via Ivy Pay. Learn more on our Fees & Insurance page.
